Basket weaving is perhaps the oldest form of craft known to man. It is a most functional object used in all aspects of daily life of not only indigenous people but all people. They are an extraordinary link to both the native and natural world. All societies practice the art of basket weaving.

The variation in pattern, form and material is as varied as the imagination allows. Baskets are used to carry food, firewood, babies, animals, storage, and for death and for birth. Most are made by women but used by all.

I have been collecting baskets since 1989 and am constantly amazed at the beauty and ingenuity of the craft. Offered here is just a small sample of my collection. Thank you for looking!
